Discovering Turnabout Stamps

Today I’m going to be working with a 4.25”w X 5.5”h Card Sketch instead of my usual 12×12 LO sketch.

I really wanted to use the new Oh Hello turnabout stamp by Concord & 9^th for the background area. In order to use this stamp you need a stamp positioning tool to help keep the stamp in the same position.

Your first step is to ensure your stamp is positioned correctly on your stamp positioning tool. Very carefully line the stamp up with the image on the back of the packaging and place a small X on the stamp that corresponds with the X on the packaging.

Next make yourself a template out of a scrap of 6×6 paper. Put the paper in the corner of your stamping tool and position your stamp over the template so the x’s line up and close your stamp positioner so that the stamp adheres to the cover. When making a card with this turnabout stamp, I find it easiest to use a 6×6 piece of paper and then cut the stamped image to fit the card.

Place your paper in the corner of your stamp positioner where you had the template, ink up your stamp with your first colour and stamp away. Don’t be afraid to make more than one impression if your coverage isn’t perfect. That’s what makes the stamp positioner so handy.

Next, and this is important – you rotate your piece of paper. You can go either clockwise or counter clockwise but just be sure to rotate it in the same direction every time. You are going to stamp a total of 4 times with a different colour each time, being sure to ALWAYS rotate in the same direction between impressions.

Now to assemble the card. First I cut a piece of coordinating green card stock to 4″w x 5.5″h and adhered it in the middle of the front of the card. I then cut the stamped background piece to 3.75″w x 5.5″h and adhered it in the middle of the green card stock. I used my Big Shot to die cut a heart and a banner piece. I inked up my sentiments with Versarmark ink and heat embossed with white and adhered to the side of the card, cutting off any excess that hung over the edge and mounting with dimensional adhesive. I finished the card off with some Morning Dew Crystal Nuovo drops and let it dry.

I love that these stamps give you a multi coloured background that lines up perfectly. The sentiments come with the Turnabout Stamp and are the perfect fit.
